On behalf of Up and Running Guelph, I want to thank our incredible community of supporters for helping us make 2023 a year to remember. Whether you supported us through your participation in our programs or events or invested your time, talents, or treasures in our organization, YOU helped to create a lasting impact on the lives of over 325 community members.
Mental health and well-being are crucial in our society. The pressures of daily life, work, and personal challenges can take a toll on our mental health and well-being. The evidence-based walking and running programs offered through Up and Running Guelph help to offset these daily pressures through the proven benefits of nature-based activities and social connections. Participants continue to report increased self-confidence, improved mood, and a greater sense of belonging within the community.
Over the last few years, experiences of mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, loneliness, and workplace burnout, have reached unprecedented levels and the demand for additional mental health support in our community continues to rise. Registration for our programs is currently 64.5% higher than pre-pandemic levels with many programs experiencing wait lists. As the demand for programs has grown rapidly, we are now faced with the need to expand to accommodate more participants.
As Up and Running Guelph is called upon to expand program offerings and increase our capacity, we will continue to offer walking and running programs dedicated to women only. This is where we started and a space we are committed to supporting and protecting. As we approach 2024 Up and Running Guelph is actively growing our Workplace Wellness Programs and collaborations with local organizations. With an ambitious goal to double our program capacity in 2024, the work has already started to launch our launch gender-inclusive programming in Spring 2024. This program is open to ALL adults 18+ and will provide both walking and running options to ensure that everyone feels welcome and supported. Gender inclusivity is crucial in creating safe and supportive environments, eliminating barriers, and fostering a sense of belonging among all participants. We are excited for this next chapter of programming and look forward to sharing the positive impacts of our nature-based, activities on mental health.
As Up and Running Guelph increases our program offerings, we recognize that the addition of new programs for additional populations will require an adjustment. We want you to know that we continue to be guided by our mission to improve mental health and well-being through inclusive nature-based walking and running programs within a supportive community. We will continue to provide safer, inclusive spaces for our program participants, volunteers, staff, and community.
Thank you again for believe in us to deliver on our mission.I wish you a very happy and healthy holiday season.
