Walking & Running at Work

Our Walking & Running at Work program is a community-based service that removes barriers for support. The program meets people where they are at, in the workplace, to help develop new skills and provide participants with additional tools to improve their mental health.

What are the benefits?

  • Support Health

Did you know : 30 minutes of daily exercise can decrease the risk of early death by up to 80% for workers who spend less than seven hours a day sitting.³

  • Decrease Absenteeism

Did you know : workers who walk at least 20 minutes a day, at least 5 days a week, have 43% fewer sick days than those who exercise once a week or less.⁴

  • Increase Performance

Did you know : workers who exercise for 30 minutes or more on three or more days a week are 15% more likely to have higher job performance.⁵

What are people saying?

“One of our group members was working from home and was not going to be able to join us at the office for our group walk. We encouraged them to still get out at the same time and walk with us ‘in spirit’. Instead of choosing to miss the walk, they went out on their own, knowing that the group was also out walking helped to motivate them to take a break.”

— Summer 2021 Participant

“There have been many times our group would not have gone out for a walk if it wasn’t because of this program. It only takes one person to tap you on the shoulder to remind you to take a short break and get outside, even if it is only for 5 minutes.”
