FAQs
Why do I have to pay?
All fees directly support the program costs. These fees help pay for volunteer training, support organizational costs, and cover the wage of program staff.
Is the program fee negotiable?
We will not turn away participants because they are unable to pay the program fee. If the cost is a barrier, please let us know and we can either reduce or waive it.
How far is each session?
Our programs are always adapted to the abilities of the participants. Walking and running sessions focus on time spent moving, not on distance or speed.
What equipment do I need?
Please wear comfortable running shoes, a sports bra, and appropriate clothes for the weather (with layers). Wear something reflective for evening sessions.
What fitness experience is required?
No experience is required. Both programs are designed for beginners. With the support of our volunteers, we are able to adapt to the abilities of the participants. If you have concerns, please contact us.
Do I need a note from my doctor?
No, we will not request a note from your physician. However, if your physical health is a concern, we recommend speaking with your physician before participating to ensure your safety.
What if I cannot keep up?
Not to worry — program mentors will adjust their walking or running pace to ensure that no program participant is left behind. We promise to bring everyone home safely.
Can I bring my dog or stroller?
No. For the safety and comfort of the other participants, we ask that you do not bring any animals or strollers with you. Registered service dogs with vests are welcome.
Who can participate in the programs?
Our walking and running programs for women are open to female-identifying persons 18+, of all abilities and ethnicities. You do not need a mental illness diagnosis to participate.
